DE photo

Neurodiversity refers to the reality that a diversity of human brains exists.

Every person’s brain is different and develops through a continuing interaction between a person’s genetics and their experiences and environment.

Autism and ADHD may affect how a person communicates, processes information, feels and navigates their environment.

Having an assessed that results in a diagnosis can help with the understanding of a person's strengths and challenges and may highlight eligibility for NDIS funding.

Early signs of Autism include,

  • Developmental delay
  • Communication differences
  • Challenges with social norms (such as eye contact or physical contact)
  • Sensory seeking or sensory avoidant

Early signs of ADHD

  • Impulsive
  • Hyperactive

  • Difficulties with sleep
  • Talkative

What is neuroaffirming practice?

At Therabees we are neuroaffirming practitioners.

This means we will consider and highlight your child's strength and needs. We also try to avoid using terms like disorder or on the spectrum due to language preferences by the Autistic community.

We aim to provide you with a positive experience throughout our process. We will provide you with as much information to help prepare you for assessment day and have our assessment space sensory friendly.
