Intensive Therapy

Intensive Physiotherapy designed to help children achieve BIG goals

What is Intensive Therapy?

Intensive Physiotherapy

Intensive programs are designed to help children who have a physical disability to achieve greater results with gross motor skills.

The program is suitable for children who have a physical disability or delay such as Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay

The methodology includes strength training in the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU). The UEU uses a system of pulleys and bungee cords to offer weight training and assisted positioning such as sitting, kneeling or standing.

In addition to exercising in the UEU, we do core stability training, reflex integration, sensory integration and mobility practice.

For some children we also use a postural support suit called the Therasuit. The suit has been specially designed to offer stability as well as increase or decrease the load on muscles. This affects how muscles activate which can re-train the brain.

The suit is adapted to each child depending on the desired therapeutic outcome and comes in various sizes to ensure appropriate fitting.
